The purpose of this event was to support True Blue Animal Rescue a non-profit organization with their rehabilitation, fostering and adoption efforts.

I was in charge of keeping track of the budget for the event and ensure that the philanthropy chair had the correct for the budget and did not go for the event. I was in charge of paying all bills for the event from the t-shirts to the promotional items (banners and tickets for the event) and paying the band and paying for the food the event. I was in charge of collecting the money for the silent auction and writing a check to Urgent Animals of Hearne for the silent auction, along with the total collection of the t-shirt and ticket sales. I was in charge of writing thank you letters to all the companies and parents that donated to the event.

The event turnout was lower than accepted but still raised more than excepted for the shelter the first time having this event. We could have marketed more to the community and A&M. Having volunteers would have been an important addition to the event so chapter members could have mingled with the guests at instead of working the event. This would have given the members the chance to play with the dogs more in front of the guests to raise more involvement from the guests. Then parking was an issue for the event because guests did not have enough spots to park on the property, so ensuring a better parking policy would be key so guests don't have to park far away and walk to the event.

I learned about how dogs can bring so much joy into peoples lives. That this event was held to help not only the Animal Shelter but also help students/families get through life. I think next year they could market this event stronger on Social Media to express what a dog can do for you.

Howdy! The gentlemen of Sigma Alpha Mu are proud to announce that we will be hosting our first ever Bark-B-Que at the Sigma Alpha Mu Fraternity House!
Bark-B-Que is our new spring philanthropy event, where you can come play with dogs and puppies in our dog park themed backyard as well as eat delicious barbeque! We are also very happy to be hosting DJ Peefunk at the Bark-B-Que!
This event supports Urgent Animals of Hearne with their vet bills. At the moment Urgent is in charge of over 150 animals and is fully functioned off of donations. Urgent has helped several families expand with their best friends in the local area.
